SUMINAGASHI WORKSHOP

Suminagashi, which translates to "floating ink," is the ancient Japanese art of ink marbling. In this meditative and fluid process, participants gently touch brushes soaked in ink onto the surface of water, creating expanding rings of color.
These delicate, monochromatic swirls reflect the flow of wind and water and the serendipity of the moment. The process emphasizes patience, simplicity, and mindfulness, as each breath or ripple of water gently shapes the outcome. Traditionally connected to Japanese Zen principles, Suminagashi encourages a tranquil state of mind, making it ideal for a quiet, immersive workshop.
The technique is adaptable and requires minimal setup, making it suitable for classrooms, galleries, hotels, and other peaceful environments. The results can be transferred onto paper and other absorbent surfaces.
Suminagashi workshops offer a serene and reflective experience, where even the smallest touch creates ever-changing patterns. Participants experience a gentle, harmonious process that focuses on presence, impermanence, and the subtle beauty of ink on water
